The Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Affordable Care Act in a 7 to 2 decision against Republican-led states based on standing. Jimmy Hoover, the Supreme Court reporter at Law360, joined Cheddar to provide some insight into the decision, noting court watchers were not very surprised justices found “the elimination of this individual mandate basically does not cause any injury to the states that are actually challenging the law.” In another decision, the high court unanimously ruled in favor of a Catholic foster care agency's right to turn away gay couples while still working with the city of Philadelphia. Hoover said that the liberal justices siding with conservatives in the case had the appearance of some form of compromise.
