And the stores to close include outlets in East Harlem, New York City, three in the San Francisco Bay area, three in Portland, Oregon and two in Seattle. The company said increased theft in organized retail crime at those stores is the reason that they're being shut down. The closures take effect on October 21 for workers. And Target said it is offering affected employees the opportunity to transfer to other stores.
