Texas Enters Third Week of Extreme Heat Warnings

Texas has entered its third straight week of extreme heat advisories as multiple cities face temperatures well into the triple digits. This also comes days after severe storms and tornadoes in parts of the state. The Electric Reliability Council of Texas which operates the state's power grid predicted this morning that electricity use would reach an all time high with the danger of blackouts and outages. Power companies are warning residents to keep air conditioning use to a minimum one resident shared her thought. I think it's important that we conserve energy so that we try and avoid all of those roll out rolling blackouts, right, because we don't want to end up without electricity for too long. So we try and do our best in Big Bend National Park. A 14 year old boy died Friday while hiking with his stepfather and brother in temperatures that reached 119 degrees. That's according to park officials. The National Park Service is currently warning residents to stay off trails during this heat wave.
