The Day Ahead: Tech Earnings Continued & Jobless Claims

Alright let's take a look at the events that are sure to move markets tomorrow. So we'll have a big day of earnings on tap. Three of the biggest tech companies reporting results after the close amazon apple google's parent company alphabet all on tap. And we are Are expecting to see some weak results including the iPhone Maker Apple expected to report its first year on year sales drop in four years. The main culprit is COVID-19 lockdowns in China and factory unrest there hitting it's supply and demand. Well meanwhile Amazon preparing investors for disappointing results citing increased costs at its fulfillment capacity. Also announced 18,000 layoffs that could result in high severance bills. So other than big technology, more notable companies reporting our legacy automaker for the coffee giant starbucks and chipmaker qualcomm. We're also expecting some economic data on tap. The latest read of weekly jobless claims coming out at 8:30 a.m. Eastern with productivity and unit labor costs out. At that time I will get data about factory orders at 10 a.m. Eastern and we will be watching the labor market closely ahead of that key january jobs report due out on friday economists expecting the US added 190,000 jobs in january, which would be a slowdown from the month before. Well just today, Fed chair jerome Powell saying the labor market remains incredibly tight
