The Most Common Questions From New Pet Owners

Hi, everybody. Our weekly check in with our pets and humans that love them. Joining us now is Alina Hotman from Best Friends Animal Society. Baker's here and shy and shy is so not shy, not at all shy. So we have shy here. Shy came from Jackson, Mississippi. He just came to best friends in New York York yesterday and he is 3.5 months old and he is just a lovable, friendly and very, very playful. Yes. Beyond like he's like every single face in the studio this morning, we see all these stories, Alina of the boom and pandemic pets, including lots of people who have never had one before. What's the most common question people have when they adopt a puppy? Like a shy. So there most common question is going to be. Is this normal puppies are like toddlers? There's a lot of work. It is there nothing like an adult dog. And I think a lot of people don't know that they're going to explore everything, do some funny and strange little things and it's just, yes, it is normal and just spend a lot of time socializing, talk to other new pet parents for puppies. Lots of playtime. So they grow into healthy, by the way, his paws are so cute because you can tell he's a puppy because his paws are so much bigger than the rest of his into them. What's the number one people are treating a new pet, like shy, not being consistent. So when you're training or teaching your puppy you need to be consistent, what's a good behavior? Use positive reinforcement? Otherwise it's gonna be confusing and it's gonna take a little bit longer. Are their pet training resources? Maybe you would recommend to maybe new pet owners out there. I would just hop on over to resources at best friends dot org. Yes. Tons and tons of resources. But then also, you know, you can talk to your local veterinarian and you can talk to local shelters. They can direct you to behaviorist, little puppy training groups, things like that. How can our attitudes as human impact, how we train our pets? So attitude is everything okay. You know, it's how you speak to your dog and think about it. Think about your tone and think about is this how I would want to be spoken to? Is this is how I would want to learn. He loves his leash by the way, so that he's like, why do dogs always bite their leash? My dog always like loves to do that. Why is that? Teething? A lot of it is teasing, it feels good on the gums. Uh and he's just, he's your typical puppy and he is explore everything. Any good news happening with you guys over Best Friends, animal Society, anything you guys are really excited about right now.
