Welcome back to cheddar innovates brought to you by curiosity. Stream space travel has never been more popular than it is today, but going into space actually has some unique impacts on our bodies. And our next guest is coming up with a solution for those side effects of space travel. Joining us now is William Clyde and founder and ceo of ojai energetic William. You have created a patent patent a cannabinoid which can be used for space travel. Can you tell us a little bit more about this innovation and how exactly this tech works? Yeah. Um so we figured out how to encapsulate the tabloids that enable very rapid onset and substantially higher bio availability, meaning that the body can use it and get way more impact with much less. And so in space, space savings is critical. And so our patented technology enables rapid onset transdermal delivery as well as long shelf life which is going to be vital for space travel and nourishing the astronauts endocannabinoid systems. We have both pharmaceutical divisions as well as supplemental provisions. Uh and so when dealing with the medical issues, that's going to be from a pharmacy and what happens there? So dickens that a little bit more, How can this optimize health for the future for future space travel? Our bodies have a system called an endocannabinoid system and that system, it's like the conductor of our bodies symphony of parts. Its job is to maintain what's called homeostasis or overall balance of every single system of the body. See you can think of it as the conductor and its job in maintaining homeostasis enables it to handle oxidative events. And when traveling in space, the oxidative events are going to be substantially higher than on Earth and making sure that they stay tuned and imbalance. And if something goes out of balance it brings it back into balance. And space has unique impacts on our body. And the endocannabinoid system is the best system to target those impacts in space. So as you're breaking down that that system, what exactly does it do within our body? So in in regulating homeostasis it has receptors and literally every system of the body. Ah And so it's think of it as like a fine tuner as well as our force field. So when an oxidative event impacts our body, it's like rust for the cells and it can throw our systems out of balance. The endocannabinoid system's job is to have one try and buffer that from even occurring. But if it does occur, tune the system whether it's immune system, skeletal system, digestive system, cardiovascular system tune it into bringing everything back into balance while it's monitoring not just that one system, but every system of the body. Gotcha makes sense. And in terms of that helping to kind of paint this picture then of what kind of travel traveling to space can do to our bodies, paint that picture for us. So in space Nasa has identified five main areas that's it Act on the bodies of the third distance from Earth. 3rd gravity impacts, and then The 5th of the environment and so being in a closed container for long periods of time, all of which these issues of space travel, the endocannabinoid system directly addresses. So the endocannabinoid is responsible for maintaining bone density. So in terms of gravity it can have an impact on maintaining bone density while traveling in space. Another being isolation of long periods of time of travel. The endocannabinoid system regulates our neurological system and has what's called fear extinction trimming abilities. So it can cut out traumatic neural networks as well as helping with neurogenesis and neural plasticity. So from the mental health side or pharmaceutical compositions would would be very beneficial for that. Another issue of space travel is long exposure of radiation. The endocannabinoid system buffers against radiation damage at a cellular level as well as a systemic level. Uh And then another issue with space travel is in these long environmental closed containers immune system issues come up the endocannabinoid systems function is also to regulate and maintain our immune system function. So from a mental health side as well as a physiological side, the endocannabinoid system checks all the boxes uh back on the body. What are the innovations and technologies are you watching in the cannabis industry today? Um we're looking at the psychedelic industry interfaces with cannabinoids uh in the pharmaceutical sense of mental health. Um And so we've actually invented combinations of cannabinoids with psychedelics, including the ability to immediately stop a psychedelic experience within minutes just using um cannabinoids as well as combination therapies that can mitigate the psychedelic response but still maintain some of the other health benefits. And so another part of space travel, mental health and neuro plasticity. For long term journeys into space, psychedelics are likely, and these combinations are going to be critical for that as well.
