TikTok Fined in Europe for Failing to Protect Children

Tiktok is under scrutiny. The Chinese owned company has been fined $368 million in Europe for failing to protect children's personal data. The Irish Data Protection Commission is saying the app violated the block's signature privacy law. An investigation by the DPC found that newly created children's profiles were automatically set to public so anyone on the internet could view it. The DPC also brought up issues with tiktok's parental control service pointing out there's no verification process to make sure adults monitoring children's accounts are actually their parents.
