A group of TikTok influencers has come together against Amazon in the "People Over Prime Pledge." The protest is in support of the unionization of Amazon workers.

TikTok Stars Boycott Amazon in Activism Push

Now a coalition of top Tiktok stars says they won't work with Amazon until the company meets the demands of the Amazon Labor Union, the campaign called the people over Prime Pledge is endorsed by a group of 70 influencers who have a combined following of 51 million people. It calls on amazon to meet the requests of its workers which include a $30 minimum wage, increased, paid time off and halting union busting activities. Many of the creators say they have done promotional deals with amazon, but plan to shut down their storefronts and decline future partnerships. They say amazon requires them to sign non disparagement agreements so that they can't speak negatively about the platform, even when the deals are over. Super interesting here, Kirsten, I want to point out that this group that's behind this of, you know, gen Z's for change, essentially actually targeted Starbucks as well, flooding a few job openings with tens of thousands of job applications that this was a few months ago. So it doesn't seem like that may have had much of an effect, but targeting amazon's revenue from Tiktok overall might actually have an effect. What do you think? You know, I like when social media is used for good and I think this is the power of Tiktok and some of its top influencers, they're using their voice, their pages they're following for good and I think that is oftentimes, what does for change? So these are seemingly much better benefits for amazon workers, we'll see whether or not they come to fruition, whether it's some none or all, but it is the kind of story you like to see.
