Over the course of 12 episodes, a team of journalists dissected his case, laying out major problems with the evidence or lack thereof that prosecutors had against him in 2009 was convicted and sentenced to life behind bars for the cage killing of his ex girlfriend, Haimin Lee, whose body was found in a park in Baltimore Maryland. He was 17 years old at the time and has always maintained his innocence, but on monday at the age of 41 a non walked out of court as a free man after a judge vacated his conviction. You see him there after a year long investigation, the Baltimore City State's Attorney office filed a motion to vacate Shannon's murder conviction. The two bombshells from the motion the original prosecu Eaters suppressed evidence that could have helped his case and there are now two alternate suspects that may have worked together in this murder. The prosecutors stopped short of declaring a non innocent. They now have 30 days to decide whether to proceed with a new trial or just dropped the charges against him all together. As for the family of Haman Lee, an attorney says the family was shut out of the entire process. They were blindsided by the vacated conviction. Listen to this, The family just wants answers. You know, and what should have happened here is that responsible prosecutor's office would have sat down with them and explained it to them and maybe they would have been on board with the motion. But what you don't do is you don't shut a family like this out of the process and sort of ram a deal like this down their throat. Now, many legal experts say, the chances of a retrial are slim. In the meantime, a non side remains at his home under detention.
