The holiday season is just around the corner. Last year sales grew 3.8% during this period, and in 2017 a record 79 million U.S. adults plan to purchase emerging tech. Jeff Joseph, SVP of Communication and Strategic Partnerships at Consumer Technology Association, joined us on set to fill us in on the hottest tech gifts. Joseph says more people are buying emerging technologies than ever. Drones are expected to sell 1.6 million units, up from 31% a year ago, and VR headset sales are expected to jump 283% from last year. Despite significant growth in new technologies, CTA says TVs will still be the number one gift. The way consumers shop is also expected to change. CTA projects more consumers than ever will shop for tech online this year. The firm attributes the rise in brick-and-mortar shopping for tech products to the rise of brand-specific and pop-up stores from the likes of Apple and Microsoft.
