Netflix Feedback, Amber Heard ‘Aquaman 2’ Role Shrinks & New 'Voice' Host

let's dive into some of your top entertainment headlines, we're following for you this hour and let's start with netflix while they might be telling their employees, if you don't like their content, then just quit. It does seem like the company cares a little bit more about what the audience thinks. The streaming giant reportedly has been getting member feedback on original content for about a year. Now that's according to variety. Netflix reportedly has been inviting small groups of subscribers to participate in a panel that's provide feedback and the company's upcoming lineup of movies and tv shows all before their public. The idea would most likely be to make edits in those shows and movies before they were eventually released. The subscriber feedback panels have taken place in the US. This isn't the first time Netflix has turned to customers to test out their new products. However, the streamer conducted extensive testing before last year's broad rollout of their shuffle play. Feature play something and that in particular a lot of times they basically take about six months and they basically give them out these sort of surveys and say, what did you like? What did you not like? But you would have to think after the situation that happened with Dave chappelle and the transphobic comments that he said, even though they say, look, we're going to support artistic freedom and artistic creativity here. There are at least somewhat nervous about how it's a lot of this content could be received and and sort of viewed by the public. So even if the public's maybe not a fan of it at least they're now aware of it. And not to mention this is the same company that told its employees very recently. If you don't agree with the content or the culture be free to leave netflix and find another place to work. But I should also know what netflix is also doing here is not necessarily new. I mean Hollywood is conducted absolutely focused market research such as Hollywood, everyone, everyone does research and focus groups on stuff like this all the time. But this is just coming at a different time for netflix given the fact that a lot of their content is coming under some criticism here, let's talk about Amber heard she says her role in Aquaman two was reduced due to the fallout of her divorce with johnny Depp during johnny Depp's defamation trial against her, the actor said quote I was given a script and then given new versions of the script that had taken away scenes that had action in it that depicted my character and another character without giving any spoiler away two characters fighting with one another and they basically took a bunch out of my role. They just removed a bunch out, heard went on to say now communication about the film stopped completely when Depp's team labeled her a liar regarding her abuse claims, Calls for her to be removed from the aquaman sequel continue to grow as of Monday, nearly 4.2 million people have signed a change dot org petition to have her cut from the film Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is set to hit theaters on March 17th 2023. I did see the first Aquaman not great by the way, I mean I know a lot of people share that sentiment with me. She was barely in the first one, so I don't know if they were going to build up her character in the second one but we do remember the same thing happened to johnny Depp a few years ago for Pirates of the Caribbean, they take him out and this for anyone who's been following this trial, this is just getting ugly and sloppy. So we should know, Warner Brothers has not commented on these allegations that she made in in this and by the way she's back up on the stand for for another day today but we should also know, she only appears about 10 minutes of the Aquaman sequel which is titled Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, but she did get paid significantly more in the second one even though her time on it was obviously lower but obviously we have not heard from Warner Brothers regarding this. Meanwhile Ron Howard's upcoming film, 13 Lives is changing course as amazon now takes over MGM for that. The film which was set to open nationwide in theaters on november the 18th will now debut this summer. That's according to a variety. The MGM movie is under the amazon umbrella that after the company acquired the film studio back in March for 8.5 billion 13 lives will have a limited theatrical release in August before launching on prime video. Weeks later, that is part of Amazon summer movie strategy. The new film follows the 2018 rescue mission of that high soccer team and their coach who were trapped in that system of underground caves. Variety also learning to other MGM titles. Anything is possible and samaritan will also have a revamped release schedule as well. I believe that anything is possible. That is Billy Porter's directorial debut which is going to be a really big one. Amazon saying jen salke who runs their film studio that they learned a lot during the pandemic with Borat and coming to America two based on the success of that and also being partners with all the Oscar nominee. But the reason why they're sort of taking a theatrical approach to this one is because this is such an international story that everybody knew and was so captivated by the thai divers and this situation with that. So this is great for them because the last time they did a theatrical strategy was uh one of the movies about that got an Oscar nomination that was Manhattan by the sea that got a lot of attention as well. Um what we know about Ron, howard is he really knows how to do family movies by the way. Um so Manchester by the sea by the way, I said Manhattan by the C. I. Met Manchester by the um, he lives in my town and by the way, for every kid's soccer game, he is there every saturday morning, I think it's his grandkids that play, but he is there every saturday rain or shine. There's Ron howard with his hat on, walking around, watching kids soccer. So I think he has like, you know, a little bit going on here. Okay. And the voices mixing up its lineup of coaches, Camila cabello replacing kelly Clarkson kelly Clarkson on the singing competition for season 22.
