Toyota subsidiary Woven Planet recently acquired startup high-definition mapping company Carmera as it looks to expand on its driverless car technology. James Kuffner, Woven Planet CEO, joined Cheddar to provide some insight into the acquisition for the future of autonomous vehicles. "I'm quite confident, by the time I'm too old to drive, I won't have to," he said, noting that digital mapping will be among the keys to the driverless future. Camera CEO Ro Gupta also told Cheddar about the technology being deployed to ensure mapping accuracy, and how the company plans to adapt to ever-changing terrain amid the impact of climate change.
