A Bronx daycare owner and a man who rented a room in her home have been charged with federal drug crimes after a one year old boy died in their car due to fentaNYL exposure. Prosecutors say Gray Mendez attempted to cover up her involvement in a drug trafficking ring. Officials found a kilogram of fentaNYL stored on children's play mats as well as devices for mixing drugs. Mendez and her tenant, Carlito Acevedo Brito faces federal narcotics conspiracy charges. Mendez and Brito were previously charged with murder in state court. Authorities say they are looking at Mendez's husband as a potential third suspect.
