In recent years, dairy farmers have faced more difficulty in trying to milk a profit out of milk. Falling sales, bad weather, and tough competition from rival plant-based products, like soy, rice, and almond milk, have created a tough market in which to survive, and not all producers have ー more than 2,700 U.S. dairy farms closed this year. Mark Stephenson, Director of Dairy Policy Analysis at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, joined Cheddar to discuss the state of the industry.
