The World Cup of MMA: Copa Combate
The World Cup of mixed martial arts is about to take center stage in combat sports. A one-night, eight-man tournament will kick off November 11, and fighters from around the world will duke it out for the $100,000 grand prize. Campbell McLaren, CEO of Combate Americas and Co-Creator of the UFC, joins to to explain why sports fans should tune in to the fights. The fight will be simulcast on NBC SportsNetwork and Telemundo starting at 11:30pm EST. The Combate Americas typically features Hispanic talent, but will look to expand its audience with big-time fights. Earlier this summer, Combate Americas made its debut on ESPN3.

UFC Will Remain Strong in a World Without Cable, Says Its President
Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White says the mixed martial arts league's five-year deal with ESPN puts it in a position to go the distance despite declining linear television trends. "Everything is going digital. Cord cutting is real. It's happening and we see it in all aspects of the business, whether it's pay-per-view or television," White said in an interview with Cheddar Thursday.
