Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) blasted the Biden Administration on Thursday, calling for more support of Afghan forces even as the American withdrawal continues as Taliban forces rapidly advance. Second Lieutenant Elliot Ackerman, a former U.S. Marine and intelligence officer, joined Cheddar to discuss the latest on Afghanistan, and he addressed McConnell's comments regarding issuing more military support. "We might be past the point where that's really going to have any type of measurable effect on its outcome, and I think probably the real question right now is what type of negotiated settlement can the Afghan government get to with the Taliban," he said. Ackerman also voiced his own disagreement with the current withdrawal policy calling it "nearsighted."
