Vincent van Gogh only sold one painting during his lifetime but now is one of the world's most recognizable artists. His painting, Portrait of Dr. Gachet, sold for $82.5 million dollars in 1990, while in a typical year 2.5 million people visit New York's Museum of Modern Art to see works including his Starry Night.

And now, you can enter van Gogh's work thanks to the original Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit. The worldwide exhibition digitally juxtaposes 40 of the master painter's works and presents them in a 180-degree format.

To further enhance the experience, the New York version of the presentation was designed by creative director David Korins, who is best known for his design on Broadway shows "Hamilton" and "Dear Evan Hansen" as well as his work with Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, and Kanye West. Mirrored sculptures reflect the images, creating a colorful world visitors can get lost in.

Other activities include a chromesthesia booth, to let attendees get a feel for what van Gogh experienced. The artist is believed to have had the condition in which the mind associates sounds with certain colors.

Cheddar News senior reporter Michelle Castillo visited Pier 36 in Manhattan to experience van Gogh's artwork and find out why he's connecting with audiences especially well post-pandemic.
