Vanessa Lachey wears many hats between being an actress, model, and host, and she joined Cheddar News to talk about the cultural phenomenon of one of the shows she hosts, "Love Is Blind," a reality dating series on Netflix. "They're super raw, and you can't script it, and you can't rehearse it, and I think people feel that," she said. "You can feel it through the television screen."

and between bounces back everyone on this Wednesday that's headed over to baker machado and netflix, reality tv show host Vanessa louche, she's been pretty busy hosting a plethora of shows like Love is blind and ultimatum on the streamer. So the model and actor took some time to chat with our very own Asia Celestino about the cultural impact shows like Love is Blind has take a look, I think people are drawn to these shows because it's real um these are real issues that matter in in life and love and at the end of the day we all want to find our perfect match and live happily ever after. But unfortunately it's not that way a lot of the times there are obstacles um there are issues, the ultimatum specifically there's issues that come up with, Am I financially ready? Am I personally Ready With Love is Blind? The issues are that we're in a swipe generation if you will where people continue dating apps, judge a book by its cover. So this gave them an opportunity to fall in love based on who they are on the inside. Yeah, I love those messages and I think another big part of it is like the guilty pleasure aspect and loving the drama and just seeing the human reactions, wondering if you follow along on social media and see the commentary um you're right about the reactions, they're they're super raw and you can't script it and you can't rehearse it and I think people feel that it literally you can feel it through the television screen or whatever device you're streaming it on, you can feel those emotions, the high highs and low lows and if I'm being completely honest, I try to stay off of the comments of social media, not just for love is blind and ultimatum just in general because as we've all known, it is not healthy. I don't think emotionally and mentally too get lost in those and get in that wormhole of the psychological aspect of so and so's opinion. I know what I saw, I know what I felt and I know what I believe and so that to me is the most important. Yeah, those reactions, I mean I'm watching along with the show, there were times when I was like getting angry at some of the different cast members sometimes uh feeling emotionally moved. So I think that's really evident. I also want to talk about sticking with Love is blind, really transcending even culture. There's a love is blind, brazil and also Japan and I'm wondering, I'm just so curious how was the series initially pitched to you and when you first heard about it, did you think it would be received this well and like go international? Um no, but I will say that the minds that be at netflix, they're brilliant and we actually went into them pitching another show that they passed on, but it was similar with love and a twist and they then pitched us this and they were like, we were trying to find the perfect couple to host it and seeing you in front of us now watching you and nick there like it's you, this is you guys because and for us we were so humbled by that, but they said, you know, we'll find a guy that we think could host, but maybe, you know, his spouse wasn't the right person or we'll find a woman that could host, but maybe her spouse wasn't the right person. And They said you guys together, you're a couple. And so we're like, Okay, great. And they told us the idea, we went to Atlanta shot season one. We actually shot season one in 2018 whether or not, and we were there for the entire process, top to bottom, um way more footage on the cutting room floor. Um they could probably make a whole series out of that. Then obviously came out with what you saw to be, Love is blind and now we have the format. So we, you know, insert host here. But for us, season one was really special because we were like in the trenches, we were there before their pod dates. We were there for a lot of after their pod dates, we went to their apartments when they moved in together, we went to the getaways, we sat down with them, you know, some of them in front of us, some of them cried in front of us, some of them called us for advice and we would come meet with them and give them our two cents. Um it definitely was a journey that we were proud of and every night we just thought if we're moved this way with this emotion, people are gonna, if people resonate this way, it's going to be huge. But netflix said our goal is two to, you know, have this ripple effect of love and change the way people are thinking about how they fall in love and bring it back to the basics of getting to know the person and having the Foundation of Communication, which as like colleges say is the foundation for a lasting relationship in any capacity. So um they did that I think and they put that little spark in people's minds. Yes, some people still out there swiping left and right, but they'll get it and figure it out to be done then Yeah, I'm gonna need some of those deep cuts to be released of you guys from the first season from back in 2018. But speaking to relationships Yeah. And speaking to relationship psychology, Youtube hosts, you both have hosting experience. But this is like the first Times together, What have you learned in this process? Any advice for couples that are opting to work together? I would say do it if you want to do it. It's like, it's like we want one more baby. If you're on the fence to do it, if you want to work with your partner do it. Um For us this has been the best decision we've ever made in our careers because not only do we get to work with our best friend? We get time together. Um Being the new female lead of the N. C. I. S. Franchise, the first female lead of the N. C. I. S. Franchise and him you know being on tour and doing his shows. He has other shows that we haven't yet talked about for netflix. Um We don't find time together as much as we want or as much as we had in the past. So when we get to do these shows together and work together it's like our date, you know when we had to fly to Austin to shoot ultimatum we were like mommy and daddy are gonna be gone for two sleeps. Um but we'll be back and we'll get on the plane, we hold hands. You know we'd order a drink, we get to the hotel, we order room service, we would sit at the bar and just talk by the fire with a glass of wine like we just ended up kind of reconnecting through the work environment specifically on set. It was really nice to be with someone who had my back and vice versa nick said if I messed up something you were right there to pick me up and I knew you got it and if I skipped a line I just saw that he would pick it up and we would just bandage her. It's like the ultimate chemistry you want to find with the co host. We already have built into our personal life. So, um, it's been such a joy and it's the best decision we've ever done is to work together, which could could have ended differently.
