Volkswagen Puts Electric Spin On Its Iconic Microbus

News interview with Volkswagen Group of America president and Ceo Pablo, senior reporter Chloe Alo spoke with him this morning as the company unveiled a new take on its Timeless Classic. Here's their conversation about the Volkswagen ID buzz. That's the new electric version of the iconic Volkswagen bus. We have designed the ID for the North American consumer. When we European version, this is 10 inches longer. We put a larger battery pack with 91 kilowatts on the all wheel drive version. We have 3, 330 horsepower and this would allow us a third row in the ID bus. So I think it's a great package aligned for the taste of the US consumer. Absolutely. And how are people receiving this? You know, is it managing to tap into that vintage appeal that we saw with the original bus? It will. So I think this vehicle that you see on my back is the memories from the back, but it also takes us into the future on this electric vibe. Uh without losing the heritage economic look of the Abu. Let's talk a little bit more about that electric vehicle vision that you have here in the US. Last we spoke, you had 25 electric vehicles planned to launch here in the US by 2030. What's the latest on your E V rollout plan? What's next ID Boss is coming next year. We presented in New York. I think I was with you a couple of months ago. The ID seven, the ID seven to launch again in 2024. Yeah. And then on the back of, of this vehicle, we have also the 84 the 84 has been manufactured in the US since August of last year. Yeah, we is bringing about 6000 jobs to the US. With these three great products. We have an outstanding line up for the next couple of years and on top of that, we're gonna complete the line up 25 electric vehicles until 2030. Now finally here new regulations mean it's more difficult for vehicles to qualify for electric vehicle subsidies here in the US. What is your take on this? Are these new vehicles likely to qualify Chloe? I am very proud of the B W team. We are the only foreign automaker that qualifies for this to Ira credit. I think the Ira is a very smart legislation that will bring jobs, innovation and technology in the U SI uh as the new industrial renaissance of the US. Because when you look at the map over the next two or three years, over 50 factories where are O Ems automaker, body production or, or renewable energy are being built in the US. So I think in three or four years we're gonna see an industrial revolution in the industry in the US.
