Wal Mart is paying some of its new hires less after changing its hourly wage structure. This past July, the retailers cutting the retailer is cutting starting salaries for employees who stock shelves and package online orders. Now new employees in these positions will receive a dollar less per hour than have hired earlier in the year. The Wall Street Journal reports, most new employees at Wal Mart will earn the lowest possible wage in their region. According to documents, the retail giant said this will allow workers to move workers to move between departments like registers, food, digital fulfillment and stocking without any pay impacts. But overall, it is a troubling sign for workers as employers seek to cut costs.
