Streaming Services Are Shelling Out Big Bucks For Decades-Old Shows
Fans of "Friends" were devastated when they learned Netflix would lose the rights to the classic sitcom in 2020. Now the platform is hoping "Seinfeld" will soften the blow when it premieres on Netflix in 2021. This comes as WarnerMedia announced they had secured "The Big Bang Theory" for its soon to be launched streaming service, HBO Max. Neither of those deals came cheap. Rights to those sitcoms are both said be worth about $500 million dollars for five years. Joe Flint, Staff Writer, Wall Street Journal joined Cheddar to discuss the classic sitcom arms race.
