What We Learned From Tuesday's 'Wonderlust' Event by Apple

Apple held its latest event today. Even in mail to new products. Let's start with the big news of the day though we're getting a new iphone. So to tell us about the iphone 15 as new senior reporter Michelle Castillo Michelle, what did we learn today? Yes, we are getting a new iphone as you point out Hannah and it's the iphone 15 and it's going to come in pink, yellow, green, blue and black. There's two main sizes, the iphone 15 that's going to be 6.1 inches and the iphone 15 pro max at 6.7 inches. Some of the new features of the previous model will stay, including that dynamic island on the top of the phone. A K A that digital black pill shape on the top. And as rumored, you're getting a new charging port. You may remember that Apple ran into legal trouble in Europe over having a different charger than its competitors. Now, it's going to use USB C ports, meaning your Apple only chargers won't work and even the wired headphones will come with a USB C connector and Apple executive called the USB C ports. The universally accepted standard. But the biggest surprise no price increases for most models, the iphone 15 will start at 7 99 and the iphone 15 Pro at 9 99. But the iphone 15 pro max will start at 11 99 which is a slight bit higher. Now, let's talk about the iphone 15. It's going to have upgraded cameras as well as use Apple's a 16 bionic chip and that's going to be helped out by a neural engine which is Apple's way to use A I to improve its chips. So that allows the chips to use less power or move information more efficiently and faster. The iphone 15 can also call roadside assistance with a satellite and that's a service that's going to come for free for two years. Now, if you're going to go for the pro model, the top of the line, you're going to have some bells and whistles that will make it stand out. It will have the most advanced camera ever. And while it's still at 48 megapixels, it can do better in low light, capture more color and details and it will have more focal length ranges. The mute button won't be a toggle switch, but it's going to be a button instead and it will also have a faster USB C port for transfer speeds. Now the iphone 15 Pro is going to come in a Titanium case which is going to make it thinner and stronger. That's an upgrade from the current aluminum that the Pro models are currently made out of. But you're only going to get three colors on the iphone 15 Pro Max. That is the black, blue and silver. You're not going to get pink, right? Bad news for those Barbie lovers out there. Apple also announced an updated Apple watch. You know, I'm excited about that. What do we know about the new watch? Well, there's a few new watches out there, but most people are going to talk about the Apple watch series nine. But let's start with the prices on these. So the Apple watch second generation E starts at 2 49. The Apple watch series nine, that's the main one. It's going to start at 3 99 and the ultra two, which is the highest and Apple watch made out of 95% Titanium has all the bells and whistles that's going to start at 7 99. But let's go back to the Apple Watch series nine. So Apple was all about using its own S nine chip in the latest edition of its Apple watch. And probably the biggest upgrade to the watch since most of them usually just changed cosmetically. It's also going to use a neural engine A K A Apple's A I push and as you mentioned, the Barbie pink, it's going to come in a brand new pink color as well as the standards that includes midnight silver product. And I think black the Apple watch is also all about health. It will be able to track everything from your average walking heartbeat to logging your health data. Another feature called Siri health queries is expected later this year. And a cool feature called name drop is going to make it easier to share contact info with other Apple users. But there's going to be a double tap feature, a gesture that includes tapping your index finger and your thumb twice. So here's a look at what it could do. So take a look. So if you can see she's double tapping her fingers, it does a lot of motions, you can silence phones, you can look at your time. But that new feature that Apple is trying to make happen is really what is going to be a game changer for this Apple Watch nine. Now, this is all possible because of upgrades in technology, including a new gyroscope and your heart rate monitor. It's also using the blood flow to tell exactly what your Apple watch is doing and that's all. Thanks to A I that's allowing it to do that. Very cool. Nice job Michelle. What other announcements? The Ceo Tim Cook and the company make today? Well, we did get an update on Apple Vision Pro. That's the augmented slash virtual reality headset. There's no new updates or announcements, but it looks like it will start shipping out in early 2024. So you still have time to save up for it. Apple also spent a big time highlighting its environmental goals and that includes being carbon neutral by 2030. It plans to eliminate all plastic and all packaging actually by the end of next year and it is currently using recycled aluminum enclosures and Macbooks and Apple watches, leather is also going to be phased out and I currently have an iphone leather case. So that's going away. It's also working on 100% clean energy and it's working on shipping more of its products via ocean instead of air that move alone is going to reduce emissions by 95%. They had a fun little presentation with Octavia Spencer playing Mother Earth. But Apple really touting the fact that they are trying to be an environmentally friendly company, Michelle this press conference just ended a short time ago. You are on top of it.
