The Biden administration is trying to make sure that your unpaid medical bills don't ruin your credit score. Yesterday, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau proposed rules to keep medical bills from impacting your credit scores. This is big one in five Americans are in debt because of medical bills which can make it harder to get a loan, open up a new credit card and even buy a house. Additionally, the CFP B reported that 58% of of third party debt collection came from medical bills. The medical billing advocates of America estimate that an astounding 80% of medical bills are full of errors. And Senator Elizabeth Warren praised the initiative saying no one should have the credit ruined because of a medical emergency by proposing to erase medical debt from credit reports. The CFP B is doing what the consumer agency does best saving Americans money.
