IBM announced new policies to its parental leave program this week. New mothers can now take up to 20 weeks leave, up from 14 weeks. The tech giant also doubled paid parental leave for IBM dads, partners, and adoptive parents to 12 weeks. Plus, IBM will reimburse as much as $20,000 for eligible adoption or surrogacy expenses. Barbara Brickmeier, VP of Benefits at IBM, says increased costs for these expanded benefits are worth it. Brickmeier says productivity and profitability are greater when its employees "missions, thoughts, and emotions are aligned with the company."
