Wife of Former Mexican Drug Lord 'El Chapo' to Be Released From Prison

The wife of Mexican drug lord El Chapo Guzman is set to be released from prison today. Emma Coronel I was arrested in 2021 over her role in her husband's drug empire and helping him escape from custody. In 2015, she pled guilty to willfully conspiring to distribute heroin, cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamine. She also pled guilty to a money laundering conspiracy charge and engaging in transactions with a foreign narcotics trafficker. Ice Paro is currently held at low security facility near Long Beach California. Prosecutors initially sought a four year sentence but a district judge imposed a three year sentence saying her role was a small piece in a much larger organization.
