Your Friday Weather Forecast for Aug. 25, 2023

Time. Now for a look at the weather going into your weekend, over 100 degree temperatures in parts of the Midwest and rain showers hitting the northeast. Here's your full forecast. I'm meteorologist, Samantha Jerry, with your latest cheddar weather update. The extreme heat continues today in the Midwest and you can see all the pink. That's where we have that heat warning in effect where temperatures will be in the triple digits. It could feel as hot as 120 degrees in some spots. You see that heat from Texas extending up into Nebraska and ST Louis today 101 degrees. So just can't get a relief from the heat. Now, we do have some showers and storms to helping along the ridge of that heat today. Nothing severe but any of these storms could bring quick, heavy rain, especially around parts of the northeast today. As a front is moving on through. We don't have any major storms coming our way for the next couple of days into the start of the weekend, some storms will exit the northeast and by Sunday it's pretty nice across the northern tier and especially along the west coast where you're looking at sunshine and pleasant temperatures. Now, one thing you do notice on the screen is the tropics. Here we are watching tropical cyclone Franklin that will likely turn into a hurricane as it tracks North Sunday into Monday and Tuesday along the east coast, we'll start to see some tropical showers. Storms stay as far away from us, but we will get rough conditions on our beaches. So expect a high risk of rip currents, some waves and possibly some beach erosion here along the northeast. The storm will pull way early next week and you can see some of that showery activity. Meanwhile, in the Midwest and west, it looks quite nice. There's a look at the storm tracks for you for Sunday through Monday and Tuesday. Franklin could become a category two hurricane today. It's a little bit cool places like Boston and New York City with showers, sixties and seventies. We have that heat down south. You can see it nineties to near 100 degrees and it's nice along the west coast with that sunshine. Temperatures in the seventies.
