Your Thursday Weather Forecast for June 29, 2023

All right time. Now for a look at the weather, as we mentioned earlier, the Canadian wildfire smoke is making its way across the country again. Plus some scattered showers out west. Here's your full coast to coast forecast. I'm meteorologist Samantha Jerry with your latest chatter weather update. All right. The big story today for a good portion of the Great Lakes into the northeast is the unhealthy air quality for the wildfire smoking. You see all the bright colors on your map here from Minneapolis to Chicago, to Cincinnati, near Washington DC and even upstate New York where the air quality is very unhealthy and even hazardous in a couple of locations. So that's something that we're going to be watching through the day. It does look like that situation will get better the weekend. The other big story is the heat, especially in Texas pushing up into the Midwest. Today, we're going to have temperatures in the triple digits from Dallas to ST Louis feeling like 100 degrees even hotter than that in some spots when you take into account the humidity. So at least the weather is pretty quiet in those areas. We don't have any storms, although that would help to cool you down east coast looks nice today. Getting a break from those pop up showers and storms. The heat is on to the south, north and west. We have just a couple of widely scattered showers. No big severe weather for the day today, but getting closer to Friday and Saturday, we start to see some of that storminess pop up throughout the Virginias and the Ohio River Valley. That's something that we'll be watching. So, a little bit unsettled again along the east coast here around the northeast as we head into Saturday and Sunday, you can see some of those storms here from places like Illinois and to even Kentucky and Ohio. All the meantime, though, to the north and west, especially California, looking good, you'll have sunshine and pleasant weather conditions uh for next week as we get closer to the Fourth of July, some widely scattered showers doesn't look like anything severe. And overall the weather for traveling will be pretty good. So today 83 New York City, 80 in Buffalo with some of that haze from places like Orlando to Tampa. 95 it is hot in Dallas at 102. Very nice. San Francisco to Seattle, temperatures in the sixties and seventies with lots of sunshine.
