Your Thursday Weather Forecast for Sept. 21, 2023

Time. Now for a look at the weather scattered showers are hitting the Midwest and down south today. Plus a coastal storm will be making its way across the east coast very soon. Get your umbrellas. Here's your full forecast. I'm meteorologist Samantha. With your latest chatter weather update. We are tracking some widely scattered showers. A couple of thunderstorms. Today, we do have one little area where there is the threat for some strong to severe storms where you could see some large hail and damaging wind gusts and that's part of northern Texas and southern Oklahoma. So we'll be watching those storms fire up for this afternoon and you can see that happening a little bit later on today. We do have some of those showers and storms up through Nebraska into the Dakotas and then off the southeast coast, we're watching an area of low pressure develop that's going to turn into a pretty strong coastal storm, especially impacting the Carolinas here and the Virginias. As we head into Friday, we'll get gusty winds along the coast, the rough conditions along the water with the beach erosion and periods of heavy rain. Now, this storm is going to be heading into the north and by Saturday, around the tri state area, we're tracking those same conditions, dry weather up to the north. We kind of try to squash this. So the first part of the storm breaks apart and then low pressure will affect places like New York City and New Jersey heading into Sunday. In the meantime, the Midwest is pretty quiet. We do have a couple of scattered showers and late Sunday to Monday, we're tracking a big storm that's going to be affecting the northwest. Places like Seattle down to Oregon where you're going to get rain and some wind along with those damp and kind of cool conditions. Today in New York City, 72 is beautiful Pittsburgh, 79 a little bit warmer to 84 in Cincinnati. 88 today in Miami with the scattered showers and storms to 83 in Orlando. Getting ready for some stormy weather in Charleston as well. You can see the cool pool of air, especially in the mountains. Salt Lake City will be near 62. Pop up storm but sunny, very warm from places like Las Vegas to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Today, temperatures are in the eighties.
