Your Tuesday Weather Forecast for Sept. 5, 2023

Right time time. Now for a look at the weather, Kristen it is hot, hot, hot here in New York City that is going to continue throughout the week, but here's your full forecast. Hi there. I'm meteorologist, Alex Calamia. We have a relatively quiet pattern across the country, but obviously, the story is the heat and right on the periphery of this heat, you can see an opportunity for some strong thunderstorms in the Dakotas on your Tuesday and that actually moves towards the Great Lakes on your Wednesday. The rest of the country overhaul looks pretty quiet until Thursday. We'll finally start to see a little bit of afternoon shower and thunderstorm activity over the Northeastern States. Hopefully putting an end to some of those heat waves in our major cities like New York, Philly and DC. By the time we get to the end of the work week for the weekend, we're tracking the tropics. If you look very carefully all the way on the bottom, right side of your screen, we do have potentially our next storm to keep an eye on. In the meantime, it's the temperatures that we're keeping an eye on across the center of the country. Places like Texas get up to 102 in Dallas. It's 103 on Wednesday. But even more impressive is just how significant the heat extends into DC. And Philly and New York expect temperatures to reach the mid nineties. Tuesday, Wednesday, maybe even Thursday. And hey, if New York hits nineties, three days in a row, it will be not only a heat wave but the first heat wave of the season for them. So we'll focus a little bit more here in the northeast. Look at Buffalo Tuesday, 87 degrees Burlington, Vermont. Not a spot. You typically sweat during September. Maybe a place that you start thinking about looking at Fall Foia by the end of the month. Instead, it's near 90 degrees that can actually spark some of that fall foliage a little bit quicker. I know it may seem counterintuitive, but all of this heat will actually probably bring out those colors a little sooner. Thursday, the heat is a little bit less intense, especially in places like Chicago, Detroit. You're back in the seventies, but we are still hitting the nineties along the I 95 corridor. This will come to an end for next week. We're expecting a much cooler pattern to set up over the eastern half of the country.
