In a new way to connect to her audience, Rebecca Zamolo and husband Matt Slays created a new mobile gaming app called The Game Master Network, based off of their hit YouTube series, The Game Master. The original series, which garners millions of views, is inspired by real-life escape rooms meets The Amazing Race.
Rebecca discussed with Cheddar how she connects with her audience, calling the new mobile game "a great addition" to connecting to her millions of fans. Having those users play as Rebecca herself in the game, they interact with each other and solve clues to help find the series antagonist, Mr. X, and his red hooded spies. Connecting the bridge between the YouTube series and the app, fans solve puzzles and unlock new videos from The Game Master Network.
"It’s a very interactive, immersive, kind of, back and forth, watching the videos and playing the game," Zamolo said. “The aspect of connecting it to our actual series makes it even more fun for people.”
Also, amid the coronavirus pandemic, Zamolo expressed how she wanted to ensure the app was free for fans. "To ask my fans to pay, felt very inorganic," she said.
"I didn’t create this app as a way to make money. It was a way to connect to my audience," Zamolo explained, hoping the app will be an escape, pun intended, for her fans during these trying times.
