The opioid crisis in America continues to grow. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 33,000 people died in 2015 from opioid overdose.
Health tech start-up Emocha is trying to put an end to the problem. The company has created a platform that prevents non-adherence for patients struggling with treatment. Patients take daily videos of themselves taking their medications to ensure they are continuing on the road to recovery.
Emocha has raised $1.5 million to date from private investors and received a $2.2 million commitment from the NIH.
