Celebrity Chef Marcus Samuelsson says using meal-kits is a smart way to "enter" cooking. The restaurateur says he's learned that people get their start in the kitchen through so many different ways and that the key is to just give it a try, no matter what your background knowledge. The Red Rooster chef also offers advice on how to substitute oils such as avocado, saffron, and coconut in recipes that traditionally use olive oil. Samuelsson says these swaps can elevate the flavor of the dish...and give it some extra nutritional value to boot! Last spring, Samuelsson took his hit Harlem restaurant across the pond. Red Rooster opened in the city's Shoreditch neighborhood and is just one of the places where the renowned chef is expanding his culinary footprint.

Top Chef Judge Gail Simmons Shares Her Tips For New Cooks
Gail Simmons has been a judge on "Top Chef" since its first season premiered in 2006. Now she's releasing her very first cookbook. "Bringing It Home" features some of Simmons favorite recipes from her travels while shooting 15 seasons of the hit show. She says anyone who follows the recipes in her book will be able to capture the true essence of the flavors of the world, without having to take a trip. The "Top Chef" judge also shares her tips for people who aren't very familiar with the kitchen, but want to start cooking. "It's all about practice," Simmons says. "Top Chef" kicks off its 15th season this December. The show will take viewers on a culinary adventure through the state of Colorado. Simmons says it's going to be an exciting season, and that the altitude actually plays an interesting role in the competition.
