Be Well: Assimilating Kids Back to School From Summer Activities

Been, a lot of schools have already started. Some are just about to start. So is it too late to sort of reverse that summer slide? It's never too late to reverse the summer slide? There are always opportunities for us to engage our Children or students in general in the process of learning. Uh One of the things that we can do is focus on reading and primarily lean into books that interest your Children or students in general. Uh Reading is fundamentally the baseline of learning, whether it's quantitative with mathematics or history, it's all foundation based on reading. So we want to provide students with potentially a goal of an hour a week to read which over the course of the next few weeks will add up to slow regression. Well, you were voted Westchester magazine's best tutoring company of the year. So we need tips and advice. What can we do to get our Children ready academically for the school year? Yeah, there are some great online resources. Uh Khan Academy is one of them and that's 100% free covers almost every subject you can imagine from elementary, middle into high school. Uh So we can definitely lean into our devices in a more positive way. Uh We do want to do some hands on learning as well. So something that could potentially be a little bit more of a sensory input, we can get into some arts and crafts outside with our Children, which is always fun. Uh And if our sons or daughters are interested in sports, we can always speak about statistics and they won't even realize that they're learning about math in real time. Well, now that we know summer slide is a real thing, what can we do to make sure it doesn't happen next year. Every opportunity throughout the day is an opportunity to learn. So you do want to make sure that students are actively engaged in learning wherever they may be. Uh, you want to make sure that it's not just relaxation, but every place where you go is an opportunity to learn even on vacation, go to a museum, uh, take in some historical sites.
