Be Well: Bringing the #GirlDinner Trend to Your Kitchen

Girl dinners have become the hottest trend to fill our social media feeds. This summer, women are posting their elegant and elaborate single serve meals on social media with the hashtag girl dinners that hashtag now has almost 200 million views. It's trending probably because it takes less time to make this. That's right. So here to tell us all about girl dinners and how we can create our own is the founder of that cheese plate and creator of the cheese by Numbers Method. Marissa Mullin. Thank you so much. We're so excited. So we have all different types on the table. So talk us through what we're building first. Yes. So here we have that picnic to go plate and this is that girl dinner when you kind of wanna take it outside, you know, if that's your backyard, great, if it's picnic by the park. Sure. Um But the whole concept is that we don't have to cook here. So on this plate, we have some cheeses, we have a sharp cheddar here and also some salami olives, cucumbers. And what we're going to do is make rustic crumbles out of our cheddar because we don't want any like simple cubes. We want it to look a little fancy. Ok. So we're gonna take the knife here. I'll show you first and then I want you to do the rest. I'm gonna go this way because I'm not gonna be, we're going to take our knife and go directly into the block of cheese and twist your wrist. So it breaks off into this little crumble. So I'm gonna add this to the plate that you can start crumbling. Ok. How about like, you know, enough to fill up the top of our girl dinner, picnic conditions. Perfect. Go that next here. We have our party for one and this again, you know, girl dinner, you just wanna decompress after a long day, put on some v drink a glass of wine and you have your party for one. I love this plate a lot because it's intentional with your pairing. So I have everything on this plate is something that I really love to eat. So we have a soft, ripe and goat cheese. We have some strawberries radishes and we wanna do some prosciutto ribbons because again, cheese plates are self care in my opinion and in my book, that cheese plate wants to party. It all talks about how parties aren't just a physical act of their mindset. So when we come together, whether that's by yourself or with a few friends, we wanna make sure that we're in the mindset to have a party so you're going to take your slice of Prosciutto. OK. Fold it like a taco long. OK. And then we're going to start to just fold but like grabbing the bottom of it so that the top kind of fans out, fold in both directions under, over, under other kind of thing. So you kind of have this like a little flowery ribbon. Am I just going to? OK. Now, so for people who aren't fancy though, do you really mess this up or like just put a bunch of stuff on a plate? I mean, yes. OK. So this is like the girl dinner for the art, you know, you can also just throw a bunch of stuff on a plate and that could be a girl dinner. Um But this one we're kind of taking a big, so these are a little bit more dainty. Uh This one I call the elevated desk lunch plate. So girl dinners can also be girl lunch. OK. And this is healthy, this has the protein in it. You want to make sure you have all the components of the health health? Totally. Like that's kind of the controversy with this trend is that a lot of people are posting these girl dinners which can be just like a gummy bear, but we wanted to have every element on this plate, you know, be a good pairing and be good for you. Um So with this one, what I like to do again to just add a little bit of flair to my cheese plates is add garnish. So we have some fresh herbs here and we can just, you can help me with this. You can just start laying them on the plate. So it makes your cheese plate into almost like it smells fantastic as well. Thank you so much for all of these great tips. I can't wait to taste and try.
