Be Well: Thanksgiving Table Décor and Settings

When it comes to gathering with family and friends for Thanksgiving the turkey and all the side dishes are the star of the show. At least my bill. But what's just as important really as the menu is your table decor. So here with some creative and budget friendly ideas is real simple. Home director, Erica Fo. Thanks so much for being with us. Thank you for having me. I mean, this looks amazing, right? Don't you want to just sit down and get going? Yeah, pretty much. Get the turkey. Let's go. Let's go. At least with this first. What are you gonna tell us about this one? Yeah. So at real simple, we love to keep things easy. You can put your simple white dinnerware on your holiday table. No problem. What you do is you just start with the white plate and you dress it up. So what we did here is we use some really fun shapes around it. So we have this kind of squiggly place mat. We have this vase with the same thing. Scalloped edges are super in this year. So trend moment and then lain more color and pattern. So here we put the napkin on top of the plate again just to give it more of a pop. And then we layered in some colorful glassware, you know, this little candle holder, blue drinkware. And then because it's, you know, all cohesive with the palette, it's ok that the blues aren't exactly the same. So again, they compliment they don't match and that's the thing we like that. That's perfect. And it's interesting that this is kind of really having a moment because you see it all all around me clothing too, almost on the plate. Yeah, really. It thanks to. All right. So our next look here is what? Ok, so this is Stay with me. I know this is a lot of pattern, a lot of color, but maximum is huge right now. So what you wanna do is you really wanna mix and match everything. So to start with this look, you're gonna want to take three or four colors, neutrals don't count. So here we have some pink red green and just make the whole palette about those. So we used a tablecloth here. That's actually just a few yards of fabric, which is a really great tip. If you have a pattern, you like, just go to the fabric store, have a couple of yards cut and that's a really effective way to, you know, get bang for your buck in terms of all that pattern from something special. And I know you have different colors here on the plates. Do they all have to match? Can you mix and match plates and patterns? You can totally mix and match plates and patterns here. What we really love is that because it's glass, it's adding a little bit of texture to the plate without adding another pattern into the mix. So it's kind of giving you a little bit more of a sculptural feel for it. And you want this where this doesn't match this. Right. Exactly because it makes everything pop. Yeah. And if you want to do something fun for each different, you could do these napkins in yellow at one setting, these napkins in green in another, you know, just change up the color ways. I love you got the scallop design. So each different one would have like this pattern but in a different color. Ok. And you could do the same thing with the plate if you want just, you know, keep one thing similar. So the shape or the actual style and then change up the color. Ok. All right. Well, let's move on to the green over here. Yeah, this is beautiful as well. And I see you work in some of the same concepts you had from the previous into this. Exactly. So, just a one really quick trip for white plates. If you have two different white plates, layer them, it automatically looks more exciting, just gives it kind of a, you know, more original feel and then this vignette is all about shopping, what you have. So before you go into Target or wherever and you buy everything off the shelf shop, your home, go room to room, see what you already have. So if you have some tiles left over from a recent, they make an awesome table runner. I wanna show these to everybody. Aren't they pretty? I'm like, yeah, so this is like a shower. T yeah, this is just a Yeah, exactly. Floor to whatever. So backslash. So you can use it as a runner. If it's a little bigger, you could use it as a charger. A little smaller, use it as a coaster. So just repurposing it and then these just go to your bookshelf. We were just talking about bookshelves, grab a couple of cute items from them and place them on your table. They're obviously special items to you, which makes them special on table. But do they have a purpose like a napkin holder or something? I mean, you can do that. This is, this is a paper weight but it just looks like a little pretty object. And these, like you said, we can, you can use them either on the plate with a place card really cutely or they're just here for fun. And also, you know, plants another great way. You don't have to splurge on flowers every time. Just use a fake plant or a real plant from your home. Put it on the table. So this would be my centerpiece. Right. That's your whole centerpiece. Got you, got you. And it's ok. Use fake plants or whatever. Yeah. Mix and match them whatever you want. I mean, it's all, it's all about making it personal to you and if that's something you like then use it. No, I gotta ask you. We don't like doing dishes. We use like some fancy paper plates. Would that? Yeah, that's fine. I mean, we always grew up using paper dessert plates in my house because my mom did not want to do the wash after the first run. But yeah, again, it's all about people are there for the turkey so everything else is just gravy. So enjoy it. Thank you so much. I feel like this is not only beautiful but helpful. Too great.
