I'm meteorologist Samantha Jerry with our latest chet weather update while the tropics are quite active. Now, we are watching hurricane Franklin in the Atlantic and we are keeping a close eye on tropical cyclone Idalia that's tracking into the Gulf and rapidly strengthening and can potentially make landfall as a major hurricane as we head into early Wednesday morning, parts of northern Florida here bringing the storm surge, damaging winds, very heavy rainfall and flooding and that is going to track off to the east of on the east coast and move out over the Atlantic before the system weakens. So here we go right now. It's quiet in the north and west. You're enjoying sunshine. We have the heat in the Midwest watching the Gulf here as the storm develops and there's hurricane Franklin off the east coast. Now, Franklin is going to be staying well off the east coast, but we have some rough conditions at our beaches. We're looking at rip currents and some large waves and some minor coastal flooding around parts of the northeast. So now here comes ID, you see that very heavy rainfall here into Florida, trekking into Georgia here, South Carolina North Carolina and then eventually moving off the coast. But meanwhile, to the north, it's dry in the Midwest, it's dry. We have sunshine in that quiet weather. So once these tropical systems start to move on now, now we're at Friday heading into your holiday weekend. Things are improving here for us across the east and in the Midwest, we're still looking at sunshine, hot weather a little bit unsettled across the mountains and parts of the northwest. Today we have some cooler spots. 77 New York City, 73 in Boston Spot. Shower here there. Mostly cloudy skies. 86 in Washington DC. There's the heat. 97 Dallas, 84 nice day for you in Nashville with some sunshine and just starting to prepare for that storm in Florida L A today. 79 1 10 in Vegas. That's your hot spot. Salt Lake City 100 degrees. Lots of sunshine across the northwest. We have some cooler spots. Temperatures in the sixties and seventies.
