On a Positive Note: Marking ADA Anniversary as Disabled NY Man Plies Trade at Local CVS

Did you know that 33 years ago, the Americans With Disabilities Act was signed into law, a historic move aimed at offering opportunity to and protecting the rights of people living with disabilities. Just like the star of our next story. Take a look. Meet Antonio Hall. The Brooklyn native has worked as a CVS employee in Manhattan for four years now. And despite having a disability, he is breaking barriers in the workforce. It's all thanks to programs like the Workforce Innovation and Talent Center program at CVS Health. I feel happy. I like working with the customers. I like helping them. I'm so grateful in partnership with Goodwill New Jersey. The program trains and supports future employees with disabilities and a mock simulated retail store so they can gain work experience and on the job skill training, an initiative organizers tell me wouldn't be possible if the ADA Act wasn't signed 33 years ago today. That act really made sure there was access supports and you know, the advocacy for people with disabilities, whether it be visual impairment or intellectual and developmental disabilities. We want no talent left on the sidelines, Antonio's dedication and charismatic personality deemed a perfect example if they need help. I'm right here. He is the reason that having a conversation around hiring individuals with disabilities is so important because just to see what he's done for the culture here at this store, that's proof in the pudding. The proof is in the pudding. Yes, Antonio tells us the message here is clear. He says that yes, living with a disability may be challenging, but there are always programs and resources to help people of all abilities, push forward. Let's use this as a reminder to continue lifting each other up. No matter what sorts of abilities you're equipped with, you are capable.
