Your Thursday Weather Forecast for August 10, 2023

Now the weather, some rain storms are hitting parts of the north and far east today and high triple digit temperatures around Texas are spreading, causing warmer weather across a large part of the country. Here's your full forecast? Hello, I'm meteorologist Michelle Powers. And here's a look at your cheddar weather. We have a risk for showers and storms today over parts of the country. Two areas of concern, we have the northern plains. There's a slight risk there as well as parts of the mid Atlantic and gusty damaging winds will be the main threat with these storms rolling through as well as some heavy downpours. Now, of course, with the strongest storms, there's always a risk of a tornado. So just be weather aware if you live in those two parts of the country, there will be some heavier rain making it through the New York City area as well. Watch for potential flooding as we drop down to take a closer look. Here, you can see the rain moving through the area eventually clearing out for tomorrow and more showers and storms. The tail end of that round that will hit the mid Atlantic, cutting through the southeast for today. So more showers and storms there. A chance of severe storms though developing over the northern plains. Not too much to look at right now, but that will be developing as the day goes on and quiet weather all out to the west. So as we take a look at future cast for Friday, will it be a beach day for our coasts? Well, east coast clears out west coast looks pretty good along the Gulf coast, dry weather as well. But in between, we have showers and storms, there will be a series of impulses coming through the northeast. So every other day there will be a chance of some of that rain. Now, in terms of temperature, the heat continues to build over the south highs in the low one hundreds around parts of Houston even hotter in Dallas for tomorrow. It's a warm one up and down the 95 corridor as well and pretty comfy along the west coast. But that heat doesn't give up across parts of the south that will build, we have plenty of nineties, plenty of century mark readings. And as we take a closer look at the forecast in the northeast, good news is those showers and storms will start to clear.
